Jerry Seinfeld Calls YouTube a "Giant Garbage Can" of "User-Generated Content"

Because him and his friends driving around drinking coffee is definitely, totally different.

Jealous, Jerry?

At the upfronts for Crackle, a video streaming service, Jerry Seinfeld answered a question about user-generated content by saying, "We have a giant garbage can called YouTube for user-generated content." He elaborated that his feeling about videos made by mere mortals is "the less the better."

Read the memo that almost killed Seinfeld

Crackle is the home of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, a show where Jerry Seinfeld and his friends show off how funny they are off-the-cuff while stuck in traffic. Crackle is also the destination for Sports Jeopardy, Blue Mountain State, and -- surprise! -- reruns of Seinfeld.

As an old-school TV star, it's not entirely shocking that Seinfeld feels his work is in a league above ice bucket challenge videos and hilarious Star Wars mashups. But there's plenty of good, well-produced, interesting stuff happening on YouTube, and Seinfeld is missing out by writing it off entirely.

In an interview with Variety, Defy Media president Keith Richman was defensive of videos developed specifically for YouTube (Defy Media's specialty).

"We produce stuff that is way better than the first season of Seinfeld. The first season looked like crap," Richman said. "It's practically unwatchable."

Ouch!
