Jennifer Salke Named New President of NBC Entertainment

TV development executive Jennifer Salke, a driving force behind hit series like Gleeand Modern Family, has been named the new President of NBC Entertainment, Chairman Robert Greenblatt announced Wednesday.

"There is no one in the television business more perfect for this job than Jennifer Salke," Greenblatt said in a statement.  "I've known and worked with her for many years and have the utmost respect for her creative instincts, her relationships with talent of all kinds, and probably most of all, her taste.  Her incredible tenure at Twentieth Century Fox Television, where she was instrumental in developing two of network television's biggest hits, Glee and Modern Family, is unmatched.  This is truly a significant moment for NBC as we continue to rebuild the network from top to bottom and put together the best possible team."

NBC Entertainment President Angela Bromstad to exit

Salke will be in charge of daytime and prime-time programming for the Peacock network, effective immediately. She replaces Angela Bromstad, who left the company shortly after the Comcast merger in January.

Salke joins NBC months before two new series she helped develop — The Playboy Club and Awake— will premiere on the network. As Executive Vice President of Creative Affairs at Twentieth Century Fox TV, Salke also helped develop Raising Hope, Glee and Modern Family. Going back further, she played a role in the development of Fox hits such as Bonesand Prison Break, after working at Aaron Spelling Productions on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place in the '90s.

For this coming 2011-2012 TV season, Salke also helped develop Apartment 23 and Last Man Standing for ABC, The New Girl and Terra Nova for Fox and Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story at FX.
