Jackson's team also told the site that her possible participation with the show was in the very early stages of consideration. "There have been absolutely no meetings between Janet and anyone with regard to X Factor," they said.
This news comes less than two weeks after The Hollywood Reporter said that the singer was interested in the gig, and was in preliminary talks to join. Jackson added fuel to the fire when she awkwardly answered Anderson Cooper's question about the subject on his talk show recently.
Since Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul were let go in January, Cowell told reporters on a February conference call that he planned to fill the vacant judges spot with two new female additions. Other rumored contenders have included Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Pink and Katy Perry, whom Cowell told reporters would be "fun" and "feisty." Cowell, also an executive producer on the talent show, confirmed that he had been considering Whitney Houston before her sudden death on Feb. 11.
