Idol headache Sanjaya Malakar, the ubiquitous Janice Dickinson and professional lovers Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are among the celebrities who will vie to be king or queen of the jungle on NBC's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! this summer. Impeached Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, whose legal troubles will prevent him from competing on the show, is nonetheless "discussing potential different options" with NBC to remain involved, he told reporters. (Why, exactly?)
Blagojevich pleaded not guilty earlier this month to 16 federal fraud and racketeering charges, each of which carries a maximum sentence of five to 20 years in prison. The judge on his case recently ruled that he could not go to Costa Rica to participate, but according to Access Hollywood, Blagojevich filmed promotional spots for the show just this Thursday.
In addition to Malakar, Dickinson and Speidi, NBA great John Salley, wrestling champ and beauty queen Torrie Wilson and actor Stephen Baldwin have signed on for the show. The hosts and three additional contestants will be announced next week.
According to the ever-modest Dickinson, who appeared on the U.K. version in 2007, she's already a shoo-in for the crown: "Life is a jungle. I have children and being in the fashion industry for the past 32 years...I practically won it."
I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! premieres on June 1 on NBC.
