Are You Prepared for Hurricane Sandy?
Map of Hurricane Sandy's path
Hurricane Sandy is heading for the East Coast. The hurricane, which has been dubbed "Frankenstorm" since it may collide with a snowstorm moving in from the West, continues to pose a major threat to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
Sandy is expected to hit New England, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, The Weather Channel reports. Residents might begin experiencing effects from the storm as early as Sunday, though it is expected to peak Monday.
Damages from Sandy are expected to be severe, thanks to potential wind gusts of 75 miles per hour and rainfall ranging from 3 to 10 inches. There's even a chance of heavy snow in the central Appalachians.
Residents in Sandy's path should prepare for power outages, so charge up your laptops now and stock up on some good DVDs. (And food, water and candles, of course.)
