Frank's got a gun -- and he may just use it on himself.

After a cat-and-mouse game all season, Frank (Charlie Weber) and Annalise (Viola Davis) finally came face to face on Thursday's episode of How to Get Away with Murder. Poor, broken Frank futilely tries to explain why he never told Annalise about his part in her son's death a decade ago. The incident reared its head again earlier in the episode, when they learned that Charles Mahoney's alibi is Linda (Emily Swallow), aka the woman from the bar who paid Frank to bug Annalise's room 10 years ago. They teamed to get the alibi thrown out by planting a burner phone (!) in Charles' cell and having Frank call it from Linda's house. (Side note: I asked Murder creator Peter Nowalk in March if Swallow would return, since the then-unnamed Linda told Frank they'd see each other again, and he said it was TBD.)

That, still, however was not enough for Annalise to forgive (you know she'll never forget). She tells Frank that he can't fix this, and he counters that he can -- pulling out a gun, pointing it under his chin, and telling her to just give him the word. Annalise tells him to do it, but Bonnie (Liza Weil) walks in, and it dissolves into a shouting match.

So will Frank pull the trigger? We still don't know if Frank is alive on the night of the house fire -- Connor (Jack Falahee) was revealed to be the latest survivor, and bedding Oliver's (Conrad Ricamora) former fling Thomas (Matthew Risch) to boot. Frank could be shot to death (by himself, Annalise, Bonnie or someone else) in the house and the whole fire could be a cover-up.

TVGuide.com caught up with Weber to chat about Frank's state of mind and if he's really ready to sacrifice himself in the name of Annalise Keating.
Who's dead on How to Get Away with Murder? Ranking the possible victims

Is Frank really willing to die for Annalise?
Charlie Weber:
Always. He would die for Annalise or Bonnie. He was in a place where he almost wanted to be done. Obviously for anyone to be at that point, he was so low and so depressed and so alone that he was capable of anything.

You think he would've pulled the trigger had Bonnie not walked in?
Weber:
I think so.

How does that scene pick up next week?
Weber:
[Laughs] In the exact same spot! Right where you leave 'em! It's shockingly intense and it's going to unfold further.

Frank's obviously trying to prove his loyalty to Annalise. Will death even be enough for her? Does he feel like there's nothing he can do that will ever be enough for her to forgive him?
Weber:
I don't know if he thinks there's enough he can do; he just is willing to do anything and keeps trying and trying. Certainly, if she had a request, it would be carried out. He'd do anything at this point to get her back.

Do you think he harbors any anger towards Annalise?
Weber:
No. There's hurt, but there's not anger. He feels abandoned by her. Despite her being upset, he knew she would react the way she did if she ever found out [that Frank played a part in her son's death], so it's not shocking. But he was very hurt that she sent a hit man after him, because he didn't know how far she was willing to go or how hurt she was in fact after all this time. So, not anger, but he was very, very hurt and very confused.

From her perspective, do you think she's surprised that he's willing to die for her? We know she wants to kill him and has repeatedly threatened to, but never ordered the hit. She would be losing two sons in a sense if he went through with it.
Weber:
I would doubt it after all they've been through. I'm not sure she's willing to believe a lot of things about him right now, but I think she probably believes that. Does she truly, really want him to die? I don't know. I think at certain times she does.

Frank told Laurel (Karla Souza) that he's in love with her. Do you really think he is? Does he love her or Bonnie?
Weber:
It's a very deep, deep relationship with Bonnie that spans years, certainly formative years for both of them. He had a really intense relationship with Laurel. I think that traditional love is something Frank can't quite understand or process. So it's tough to say if he loves Laurel in the sense that he thinks he should.

I thought he was genuine when he explained to Bonnie last week why he left her at the motel, but he didn't expect Bonnie to react the way she did and kick him out. Does he regret leaving her there?
Weber: Absolutely. I think he did at the time too. He felt he needed to do something so he could go back [home]. Bonnie told him he had to go back. His way was misguided, but that was his way of trying to find his way back. Unfortunately, he had to leave her there. He couldn't tell her about what he was going to do.

He could've left a note.
Weber:
[Laughs] That's true!

Frank and Wes' (Alfred Enoch) relationship has always been frosty. Does resent Wes even more now with the Laurel love triangle?
Weber:
Yeah, there was always a resentment -- just the things [Wes] brought into the house and the way Annalise sort of loved him, and how protected he was and how he was immediately accepted as family, which was something that took Frank a very long time to achieve. So there was always a sense of resentment toward Wes ... but I don't know if there's more [resentment] now. I think it goes back to Frank. If he does love Laurel, maybe he just wants her to be happy. If he doesn't understand love, maybe she should be with someone who does. I think that has yet to unfold and I'm looking forward to seeing how it does.

Given Frank's history, do you think Frank just wants to be needed and wanted right now? This is probably the most isolated he's been since he was in prison. Does he want that connection again with anyone or just with Annalise?
Weber:
I think not anyone; I think Annalise and Bonnie specifically. I think anyone else would be a Band-Aid for how broken he is. But yes, he's very alone and isolated and helpless right now.

After Frank slept with Linda, she told him that they'd see each other again. Did it ever cross his mind it'd be 10 years later?
Weber:
Came back around, didn't it? [Laughs] She wasn't lying! Pretty long premonition, but that came into fruition, didn't it?

What can you say about who's under the sheet?
Weber:
Uh... nothing! [Laughs] As you can guess. Just that it's shocking.

What was your reaction when you found out?
Weber:
I was devastated. It was really built up. It was very hard to hear.

Do you know who Laurel's baby daddy is?
Weber:
I don't as of yet. That will be revealed, but I do not know.

It seems like it's probably be Wes', but it could be Frank's too, depending on the timeline.
Weber:
Yeah, that's kind of the wild card in it. She's in a relationship with Wes and it seems to be that would be how it would play out, but we always throw wild cards in there.

Can you see Frank as a dad?
Weber:
I can't. [Laughs] I think he would try. I think some of the emotional stuff would be there. I don't know if he'd truly be able to handle it on the level one needs to in order to be a good parent.

What else can you tease about the fall finale?
Weber:
Fireworks. Tears. Horrible, fun-to-watch things.

Tears from Frank? You've been doing a lot of crying this season.
Weber:
Frank's been doing some crying. I think I do cry. I'm sure I cry in it at some point!
