Desperate Housewives' Brenda Strong told TV Guide at the L.A. premiere of
You've Gotta Have Heart, an evening of themed readings held to increase awareness about heart disease in women andraise money for the non-profit behind the show, Events Of The Heart.
Strong enlisted co-stars Eva Longoria and Dana Delany to participate alongside
Two and a Half Men's Holland Taylor,
Nip/Tuck's AnnaLynne McCord and TV vets Jeffrey Tambor, Stephen Collins and Markie Post. Longoria, who was the constant butt of short jokes on stage because she was standing next to the incredibly tall Judy Gold, explained: "Brenda is a really good friend. Anything she wants me to support I am there for her. And it sounded like a fun way to get the information out there."
The ladies, though, didn't need a lot of convincing. "It is something that is just not talked about enough despite the fact that heart disease is the leading killer of women," said Delany, who became personally aware of the risks when she accidentally discovered her own heart murmur five years ago. "People think of it as a man's disease, like you can only get it if you eat red meat and drink whiskey. But it gets women. It is a harsh reality and I think a night of readings will get the facts out there in a fun way."
The Housewives took time out from shooting the season finale to attend, and while they wouldn't spill many plot points, Delany did promise that the Mayfair mystery would be solved, adding that it would involve her ex-husband (played by Gary Cole) "and it is going to be a
lethal resolution." -
