Hip-Hop Starlet Joins NCIS
Perhaps best known for her lustful hit "My Love Is Like... Wo," Mya is still valiantly plugging away at her acting career. The hip-hop songbird — who has appeared in Moulin Rouge!, Chicago and (ahem) Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights — has two big thespian projects right now.
First off, there's
Christina Ricci's just-released horror flick,
Cursed. "I play
Shannon Elizabeth's best friend in the movie," Mya tells TVGuide.com. "She has man problems and we try to solve the situation on our girls' night out at a carnival. We go take her issues to a freakin' fortune-teller, who ends up giving us
no advice and [instead] says we're set up to be murdered. We're not buyin' it, but then weird things start happening."
Mya also gets lethally involved in tonight's episode of
NCIS (8 pm/ET on CBS). "My character's older sister is found murdered — with [suspicious] residue in her nose," the guest star previews. "And it's not believable. She's a good girl, an A-plus student who has been promoted to Captain's Yeoman. The mystery is to find her murderer. It's very complicated and very surprising!"
But the fun part, of course, will be Mya's naughty antics. "I'm a go-go dancer doing a number called [
Sophisticated Lady], which came off my
Moodring album, by the way," she laughs, then adds, "Yes, I
do go-go dance. I don't have to show much, though; I'm fully clothed. I have a see-through shirt on with a bra-top underneath and some very hot solid-gold pants on. It's not a strip club, it's a go-go club. We're in [good] taste and not taking anything off. It may be suggestive, but it's clean and sexy."
Just like her upcoming album
Control Freak, which she's collaborating on with
Dr. Dre. "['My Love Is Like... Wo"] was a moment and I don't need to revisit that again," Mya laughs. "That's how I felt then and that's what I said, and now I can leave it alone. But this album is really sassy. The lyrics will be more...
interpretable, versus so straightforward and blunt."
