The Pittsburg Steeler by day was picked up in Dekalb County, Ga, and charged with driving under the influence. He posted a $1,300 bond and was released.
Ward's agent/manager Andrew Ree released a statement on the arrest that claims Hines is innocent of the crime. It reads, via People.com, in part: "Hines is deeply saddened by this incident and apologizes to his fans and the Steelers organization for this distraction... From our preliminary investigation we can tell you that we are confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving."
Ree also says that Ward "cooperated fully with the police and truthfully answered all of their questions."
Ward grew up in Georgia and is known to spend time there in football's offseason. He also attended the University of Georgia.
