Presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton aimed to put a public gaffe behind her during a Thursday-night Tonight Show visit, telling Jay Leno she feared not making it to the talker because "I was pinned down by sniper fire" - a reference to when she "misspoke" last month about a trip she had made to Bosnia. Leno quipped back, "In L.A., that might be true, actually."

Clinton later told Leno she is "incredibly touched" by daughter Chelsea's decision to stump for her campaign. Reminded that Chelsea has said Mom could be a better commander-in-chief than Dad, Hil smiled, "Oh, she's such a smart young woman." - MWM
