Hilary Duff debuted a short new summer hairstyle on Thursday. And according to her stylist, the bold cut was a spur-of-the-moment decision. "She texted me last night and wanted to do it right away," Marcus Francis told Us Weekly. "We wanted a bigger change for summer and just to feel healthier in general."

Duff, who's working on a new album and set to star in a TV Land sitcom next fall, loves her new 'do, sharing a selfie on Instagram. "She loves it and feels like it'll be easier to style," Francis continued. "She actually wanted it shorter when we first discussed the cut, but once she saw what three inches looked like, she felt the length is perfect. She loved that the hair looked and felt thicker."
