Übermodel Heidi Klum is living proof that, when it comes to clothing, less is sometimes more. With wholesome looks and traffic-stopping curves, this 30-year-old German native has quickly become one of Victoria's best-kept secrets. We sat down with Klum on the eve of tonight's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (10 pm/ET on CBS) to chat about working the catwalk in your underwear, and what happens when a sweet apple-strudel girl turns into an evil video-game Bond girl and locks lips with Pierce Brosnan.
TV Guide Online: It must be a little nerve-wracking, walking down the runway in your underwear with millions of people at home watching you. What happens if you trip? Do they yell "Cut!" and give you a do-over?
Klum: If you mess up, they're not going to stop the whole show, because everything is lined up with the music and there's 27 other girls behind you. If you mess it up, then that's too bad for you. So I guess, in that sense, it is a bit nerve-wracking.
TVGO: How do you prepare? Do you lay off the Ben & Jerry's or do you train harder?
Klum: You definitely do something to get into better shape, yeah, because there are so many girls on stage and they all have great bodies. You want to make sure that in the midst of that, you don't pop out as being the big one, you know what I mean? You wanna look good.
TVGO: So do you only wear Victoria's Secret when you're onstage?
Klum: Oh no, I wear it all the time. I don't wear all the fashions they have, but the underwear I wear all the time.
TVGO: Right... so, uh... sorry, lost my train of thought. So tell us about this new video game, James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (due Spring 2004).
Klum: I play Natya, a Russian undercover agent. I get to fight and shoot and actually hit people and be one of the best bad girls in video games!
TVGO: But with that form-fitting body suit, your character doesn't look bad at all.
Klum: The Bond girls are always sexy, whether it's a good girl or a bad girl and they're good at fighting. They're always twisting the guy's brain around and twirling them around their little finger.
TVGO: I think you like being a bad girl.
Klum: It would've been more natural if I would've been the good girl, but it's more fun to be bad.
TVGO: Especially when you're kissing Pierce Brosnan.
Klum: I had to kiss my hand.
Klum: Yeah, to make the noises, kissy noises [for the video game's sound effects].
TVGO: How do you think Pierce ranks as James Bond, compared to the likes of Sean Connery and Roger Moore?
Klum: Pierce is doing a great job. He's got the James Bond material, absolutely. You know, he's sexy, he has a great body. He is James Bond.
