"Some bad sh--'s coming and there's no getting around it."
HBO has released the first full trailer for its upcoming post-apocalyptic drama The Leftovers and from the looks of it, things aren't going to be pretty.
Based on the Tom Perotta book of the same name, the drama tells the story of the people who survived a Rapture-like event that took 2 percent of the population. The beginning of the trailer details the moment of those people suddenly disappearing and then flashes to three years later, when the town of Mapleton is staging its annual day of remembrance. But while some of the residents are living in a depressed fog, the town's chief of police, played by Justin Theroux, is mobilizing efforts to prevent whatever is coming next.
Co-created and executive produced by Lost's Damon Lindelof and directed by Peter Berg, the 10-episode series also stars Amy Brenneman, Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Emily Meade, Michael Gaston, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Carrie Coon, Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Annie Q, Paterson Joseph, Brad Leland and Max and Charlie Carver.
The Leftovers premieres Sunday, June 29 at 10/9c on HBO.
