Hannibal Buress Calls Bill Cosby a Rapist During Stand-Up Set

While NBC is gearing up for Bill Cosby's return to TV, Hannibal Buress urged his fans to reconsider their support of the legendary comedian. During a stand-up show in Philadelphia last Thursday, Buress called out Cosby on the multiple allegations of sexual assault that have plagued him for years.

"And it's even worse because Bill Cosby has the f---ing smuggest old black man public persona that I hate. Pull your pants up, black people. 'I was on TV in the '80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom.' Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby. So, [that] brings you down a couple notches," Buress said, lambasting Cosby over the 14 different women who have accused him of sexual assault. "I want to just at least make it weird for you to watch Cosby Show reruns. ...I've done this bit on stage, and people don't believe. People think I'm making it up. ...That sh-- is upsetting. If you didn't know about it, trust me. You leave here and Google 'Bill Cosby rape.' It's not funny. That sh-- has more results than 'Hannibal Buress.'"

In 2006, Cosby settled out of court with a woman who claimed he raped her. Court documents refer to 13 other women who allege similar experiences of being drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby. While the 13 women never testified, many have publicly spoken out about their experiences.
