For days, Grey's Anatomy have been plagued by one question: Will Meredith's McBaby survive?!

Although a promo from this Thursday's episode (9/8c, ABC) featured what appeared to be complications for Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek's (Patrick Dempsey) impending baby, executive producer Shonda Rhimes is here to calm your fears — sort of.

"I would like to point out that while I find promos to be awesome... I have nothing to do with the way the promos are cut, so I do not make the promos," Rhimes tells TVGuide.com. "The reason you all fear that I'm going to kill McBaby is because you guys think I kill everybody, even though I don't. I only kill some characters as necessary on a story basis."

Grey's Anatomy's Jessica Capshaw: What will threaten Arizona's ability to work?

So should fans be worried about what may happen with the baby considering Meredith hasbeen through so much in the past? "What's good about the fact that everyone is so nervous is you're taking on Meredith's fear," Rhimes says. "Meredith has this impending sense of doom because it was so hard for her to get pregnant because she never should've gotten pregnant in the first place. She's the girl who survived a drowning, a hospital shooting and a plane crash. It's very hard for her to believe that this good thing might happen. This is going to be a very interesting journey to watch her go on, which I'm really enjoying."

To find out what's going to happen with the McBaby, tune in for a new episode of Grey's Anatomy on Thursday at 9/8c on ABC. Stay tuned for much more scoop from Rhimes in the coming week!
