Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens Jr. have all reportedly signed two-year deals to stick with the ABC medical drama, Deadline.com reports. ABC declined to comment.

Dempsey confirmed his new deal on Carson Daly's Los Angeles radio show Thursday morning saying he was happy to have the negotiations behind him. "It's just so nice to have a job and it continues on as a wonderful thing, so, very grateful that it's happening," he said. "[I'm] very happy ... to move forward and looking forward to another couple of years of the show."

Although the new contracts are just for two years, Dempsey sounded open to the possibility of continuing beyond a possible 10th season. "We'll see how we feel at the end of two years, but that's been a long run," he said. "Hopefully with these next two years we can infuse some new life into the show. I know there are a lot of interesting things coming up on the last two episodes that I think will be quite moving for people."

The Season 8 finale will air next Thursday, with one of the Seattle Grace docs meeting their maker — which has made fans even more stressed considering this is a contract negotiation year. Still, Pompeo previously expressed that she was game to continue playing the Grey of Grey's Anatomy

Hopefully this means none of these worst-case scenarios will come true now.

ABC has yet to renew the series, but news is expected by next week at ABC's Upfront presentation.

Are you glad to see your fave docs return?
