Liz & Dick will follow the roller-coaster relationship between Taylor and Burton, who were married and divorced twice and were considered the "Bennifer" or "Brangelina" of their day because of the intense media coverage surrounding their courtship.
Lindsay Lohan confirmed to play Elizabeth Taylor
Bowler's casting comes less than two weeks before production is set to begin on June 4. "Grant will add gravitas to our couple and bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived," the film's executive producer Larry A. Thompson told the site. "Burton was a Welsh poet, a rascal, and a man's man, who swept Elizabeth Taylor off her feet and flew her so close to the sun that they both exploded into stardust that still lights up Hollywood."
Thompson also said Bowler's casting was a no-brainer after the actor did a reading with Lohan. "The chemistry erupted in the room," he said.
