Goodfellas Mobster Henry Hill Dead at 69

Henry Hill

Henry Hill passed away Tuesday at the age of 69, ABC News reports.

The former mobster, whose life was immortalized in the movie Goodfellas, died in a L.A. hospital after a long battle with an undisclosed illness, Nate Caserta, the son of Hill's fiancée Lisa Schinelli Casterta, confirmed.

"I will never be the same. I lose someone I cared about a lot. Someone who loved my family and helped me a lot with life," Caserta wrote in a Facebook post. "You truly lived a life no one could live. You touched so many people's lives. Your spirit lives forever with me."

From the 1960s to the 1980s, Hill was associated with the Lucchese crime family in New York. Hill later became an informant for the FBI and entered witness protection before testifying against his former organized crime bosses.

His life of crime and reform was detailed in Nicholas Pileggi's book Wiseguys, which became the basis for Martin Scorsese's film Goodfellas, starring Ray Liotta as Hill.

Hill was also a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show.
