Pass the chocolates, and let's party!

The Good Wife has promoted Zach Grenier, who plays tough-talking divorce lawyer David Lee, to a series regular for the show's upcoming fifth season, CBS announced Thursday on Twitter.

Grenier, a Tony award nominee, has recurred since Season 1, but his promotion comes at a very interesting time for the series. In last season's finale, Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and Cary (Matt Czuchry) decided to leave Lockhart/Gardner and start their own firm. So now the question is, will David stay put at Lockhart/Gardner or follow Alicia and Cary to new pastures? David and Alicia have worked well together on a number of big divorce cases, but David's tendency to blur the lines to get the job done has frequently been an issue for the good wife.

On the other hand, David is an equity partner at Lockhart/Gardner, but has never been shy about voicing his dissatisfaction with Diane (Christine Baranski) and Will (Josh Gardner). In Season 3, David was one of several who tried to demote Will after he was suspended.

Either way, hopefully this also means more glimpses into David Lee's personal life. After it was revealed in Season 3 that Lee moonlights as a Revolutionary War reenactor on the weekends, we have been very intrigued to learn more.

The Good Wife's fifth season premieres on  Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9/8c on CBS. Which side do you think David will choose?
