Cory Monteith Absent from Glee Season 5 Promo

It should come as no surprise that Cory Monteith, who died in July, is missing from the first Gleepromo — and yet his absence is still felt.

The teaser trailer does not include any new footage, but instead touts a new season filled with drama and passion, both of which will undoubtedly fill the series' third episode, a tribute to the passing of its star.

In an interview with Deadline.com earlier this week, co-creator Ryan Murphy said the third episode of the season, which will be a tribute to Monteith's character Finn will be a "very heartfelt look at how young people grieve." However, Murphy said that Finn will not die from an accidental drug overdose — like Monteith did on July 13 — but instead Finn's cause of death will remain a mystery, possibly forever.
