Is The Glee Project coming back for a third season? Depends on who you believe.
On Monday, TVLine reported that Oxygen wasn't moving forward with the reality show. But Oxygen says it hasn't pulled the plug. At least not yet. In a statement issued late Monday, a network spokesperson called the TVLine report "speculation."

One possible factor behind The Glee Project's uncertain future is the fact that Gleehas not yet been renewed for a fifth season. Negotiations are ongoing between Fox and 20th Century TV.

Fall TV 2013 Scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?

The Glee Project, which debuted in the summer of 2011, is set up to cast one young, talented singer, actor (and best-case-scenario) dancer in a recurring role on the hit Fox musical. In each episode, contestants work with Glee's casting director Robert Ulrich, choreographer Zach Woodlee and vocal coach Nikki Anders before ultimately winning the approval of  Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy

Each episode centers on a theme similar to Mr. Schue's white board lessons, such as theatricality and believability, and required hopefuls to record tracks, participate in a music video shoot and also perform in front of such guest mentors as Lea Michele, Jane Lynch and Darren Criss

Must-see new spring shows

Over its two seasons, The Glee Project has produced several Glee recurring players. Season 1 winner Samuel Larsen and runner-up Alex Newell still recur as glee club member Joe Hart, and New Directions rival-turned-member Wade "Unique" Adams, respectively. Fellow winner Damian McGinty and runner-up Lindsay Pearce, also from Season 1, also recurred last season. McGinty played McKinley High Irish exchange student Rory while Pearce played Harmony, a student from a rival high school who applied for NYADA last season along with Rachel and Kurt.

Season 2 winner Blake Jenner has recurred heavily as new McKinley student Ryder. Finalist Ali Stroker appeared in the "I Do" episode as Emma's niece, Betty, who hooks up with Artie (Kevin McHale) after the unsuccessful nuptials.
