Girl Meets World has tapped Sabrina Carpenter to play Maya Fox, the best friend of Cory and Topanga's daughter, Riley, TVLine reports. Carpenter impressed Disney exes when she appeared in the failed Disney XD pilot Gulliver Quinn, and she also voices a princess on the Disney Junior animated hit Sofia the First.

Carpenter will next appear in Fox's upcoming comedy The Goodwin Games as the tween version of Becki Newton's character. Her casting comes days after Rowan Blanchard won the coveted role of Riley Matthews.
Production on Girl Meets World is set to begin next month. If the pilot is picked up to series by Disney Channel, it would debut sometime during the 2013-2014 schedule.
