The weekend after Thanksgiving, thousands of Gilmore Girls fans curled up with their friends and loved ones to watch Netflix's four-part revivalGilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. And among those viewers was an unlikely quartet: four grown men who bonded over the show when they were Marines stationed together in a sniper platoon in Iraq, and reunited to binge-watch the revival.

The guys' obsession with the show started when one found a copy of Season 2 in the library at their military base in Iraq. And from there, they became enamored with the world of Stars Hollow, and all the dramatic ups and downs of mother and daughter Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel).

"At least for me, Stars Hollow was the America I think we all wished we were fighting for," one of the men tells CBS This Morning.
