Muggles and wizards alike have a reason to rejoice - after swearing that there was no more to Harry Potter's story, J.K. Rowling and Scholastic have announced that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II will be released on July 31, 2016. If that date sounds familiar, it should: it's Harry's birthday!

Instead of a straightforward story though, the book is going to be the Special Rehearsed Edition of the script for Rowling's Harry Potter sequel play of the same name debuting in London on July 30. The book will allow fans who can't make it to England to see the play live a chance to follow the famous wizard on his latest adventure. Cursed Child will also be published as an eBook on the Potter companion site Pottermore.com. As the script changes through the play preview process, the Special Rehearsed Edition will be replaced by a Definitive Collector's Edition, to be announced later.

The Scholastic release also gave some insight as to what Potter will be dealing with in Cursed Child. "It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places."

Get your wands out because summer can't be here soon enough.
