X2: X-Men United ruled the box office for the second consecutive weekend. The freaky mutant flick collected another $41.4 million, bringing its 10-day total to an X-ceptional $149 million. (The original tallied $157 million during its entire run.) After a series of high profile flops, Eddie Murphy finally spied the makings of a hit with kiddie comedy Daddy Day Care, which opened at No. 2 with a better-than-expected $27.6 million. Next weekend, look for X2 and Daddy to get their butts kicked by a little art-house film called The Matrix Reloaded.
