BJ's tragic death and heart transplant. Tracy Quartermaine looking on coldly as her father Edward appeared to suffer a heart attack. Sonny Corinthos watching in horror as his wife Lily was blown to bits in a mob hit. Single father Dr. Patrick Drake struggling to move on after the death of his HIV infected wife, Robin Scorpio. And Luke Spencer saving the world from the bloodthirsty Cassadines over and over again.
These are among the storylines that made ABC's General Hospital a phenomenon over the past five decades, and will be the focus of a 50th anniversary cast discussion on Friday, April 12 at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills.
Though more star names are still being confirmed, I can announce that I will have the great pleasure of moderating the General Hospital: Celebrating 50 Years and Looking Forward panel with Emmy winners Tony Geary (Luke Spencer) and Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine),  Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake) and Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos Jacks). Also joining the discussion are the two men responsible for bringing back so many beloved fan favorites over the past year: executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati.
More names will be announced as we get closer to the sold out event, which will be streamed live at www.PaleyCenter.org
