Geena Davis has traded in her Grey's Anatomy doctor's coat for a demon-sensing housewife in Fox's reboot of The Exorcist, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Davis will play Angela Rance in the reboot. Her character is described as a "naturally beautiful, regal and proud woman who is weighed down by stress, she does everything she can to stay positive and keep her faith even though her family is currently struggling." The suburban mom also can't help but suspect that her dreams about a demon may have something to do with the weird things happening around her.

Davis was a recurring guest star on Grey's last season, but The Exorcist marks her first starring regular role since her Golden Globe winning performance on ABC'sCommander in Chief.

The Exorcist series is based on William Blatty's 1971 novel (which also inspired the famous 1973 film of the same name). The potential series will follow two different priests, played by Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels, and their approach to helping a family battling demonic possession.
