Tyrion Lannister could be poised to become a king. Power TrippingTyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage)
On Sunday's Game of Thrones, the Halfman discovered that his father found another use for him besides the Master of Coin. And this new role could get him crowned one day. How does King Tyrion sound to you? Who else did fortune smile upon? Who suffered a setback? TVGuide.com breaks down the power shifts in "Kissed by Fire":
Game of Thrones' Coster-Waldau on Jaime losing his hand... but not his hair!
The Halfman is getting hitched! That's the plan, anyway. To prevent the Tyrells from whisking Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner
) away from King's Landing, the Lannisters plan to wed her to none other than the Imp himself. And although Tyrion is less than thrilled -- "She's a child!" he points out -- there's no denying that this is good politics. Should Robb Stark (Richard Madden
) die, Sansa is next in line for dominion of the north. Who needs the Iron Throne anyway? King in the North will do just fine. We wonder how Shae (Sibel Kekilli
) will take the news.Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance)
We're glad Tyrion's old man is fictional because it's scary how easily Tywin dreams up these schemes to completely change people's lives. Not only does he plan Tyrion's future union, but his daughter Cersei's (Lena Headey
) as well. This is, of course, all to advance the Lannister cause and fill their coffers. Who knew matchmaking would be his evil power?Jon Snow (Kit Harington)
Well, well, well, the bastard has become a man. Despite his Night's Watch celibacy vows, Jon has no choice to have sex with the wilding Ygritte (Rose Leslie
) to prove that he has completely turned his back on being a crow. And as much as he may hate breaking that oath, handing in his V card is a very convincing argument that he's gone native.
Game of Thrones defined, from A to Zorse Sandor "The Hound" Clegane (Rory McCann)
It's not every day that you go up against a guy with a flaming sword and win. But that's just what The Hound did in a "might makes right" contest in which the gods -- excuse us, the one true Lord of Light -- deemed him innocent of the murder charges against him. Who let the dog out? That would be the Red God R'hllor!Jaime Lannister (Nicolaj Coster-Waldau)
After you have your hand cut off and drink horse urine, almost anything short of death or more torture is considered a victory, yes? At Harrenhal, he gets his stumped treated and a lovely bath. But wait, there's more! Surprisingly, he finds in Brienne (Gwendoline Christie
) a sympathetic ear to tell just how he got the moniker The Kingslayer -- and although it's not pretty, it's redeeming. Apparently, he had to kill Mad King Aerys to prevent him from killing all the innocent people in King's Landing. Seven hells, is Jaime actually... noble? Well, aside from pushing a boy from a tower?Davos Seaforth (Liam Cunningham)
The poor Onion Knight finally gets a visitor in prison: Stannis' young daughter Shireen (Kerry Ingram), who is more than willing to spend time with him in the dungeons. You see, after surviving the dreaded greyscale disease, which left half of her face dark and scaly, she's used to living a life locked away from the general public. Let's hope she will somehow be able to help him beyond teaching him to read (which is power in itself!).Power FailureCersei Lannister
Let's face it: Political marriages in Westeros don't really favor the woman. Her last husband was a drunkard who was in love with a dead woman, and now her dad wants her to wed Loras Tyrell (Finn Jones), who's gay. Can't she just enjoy being a randy widow and Queen Regent in peace?
Game of Thrones: The trouble with Joffrey Sansa Stark
The girl has got to stop getting engaged! Her previous betrothed Joffrey (Jack Gleeson
) had her dad decapitated, and although we really think Tyrion is a decent guy, he's obviously not the most sought-after bachelor in the seven kingdoms and is part of a family that has only caused her grief. Even he knows how badly she'll take the news. "Joffrey has made her life miserable since he took her father's head and then you give her to me? That's cruel!" Tyrion says.Robb Stark
The King in the North has been betrayed by Rickard Karstark (John Stahl), who killed two young squires (mere boys!) being held prisoner at Riverrun. Sure, they were Lannisters, but that doesn't make them guilty of anything nor excuse his over-the-top version of vengeance. But Robb can't let this egregious deed go unpunished and therefore executes Rickard, which sadly causes the massive Karstark forces to withdraw their support from him. Loras Tyrell
Keep it in your pants, dude! Or at least if you're going to hook up with every hot squire, try to keep from spilling political secrets during pillow talk. Because of Loras' loose lips, Tywin is tipped off about the Tyrell's marriage plans for Sansa. Best QuotesYgritte to Jon Snow:
"Why are you still dressed? You known nothing, Jon Sn-- Oh!"Lady Olenna (Diana Rigg) to Tyrion:
"I was told you were drunk, impertinent and thoroughly debauched. You would imagine my disappointment finding nothing but a browbeaten bookkeeper." Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) to Gendry (Joe Dempsie):
"I can be your family." Gendry:
"You wouldn't be my family. You'd be milady." Robb Stark, about one of Karstark's accomplices:
"This one was only the watcher. Hang him last so he can watch the others die." Jaime Lannister:
