FX has struck a deal with director-writer-producer Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) to make a new 10-part miniseries about World War II, the cable network announced Friday.

Written by Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours scribe Simon Beaufoy, Telemark is based on the true story of the British-based Norwegian resistance fighters who sabotaged Hitler's nuclear development program during World War II.

The worst American accents

Christian Colson, who also worked with Boyle and Beaufoy on both films, will produce the miniseries. Telemark is the Oscar-winning trio's first American TV project.

"We're incredibly honored to be working with Danny Boyle, Simon Beaufoy and Christian Colson who are three of the best filmmakers in the world," FX Networks and FX Productions' President of Original Programming, Eric Schrier, said in a statement. "Telemark is a compelling, powerful and important story, and we know Danny, Simon and Christian will do a masterful job producing it."

TV's worst cops

Added Boyle: "This is one of the world's greatest stories and we want to tell it on an epic scale."

Telemark will mark FX's second miniseries following the network's upcoming adaptation of the hit movie Fargo, which will air in the spring of next year.
