Carlock, who served as a producer for 30 Rock's entire run, will write and executive-produce along with Fey and David Miner (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Fey, however, will not star in the comedy.
The project sparked a heated bidding war between multiple networks, which is how the comedy received a rare series commitment before a pilot was produced. NBC made a similar move last year with The Michael J. Fox Show, which premieres this fall.
This is the second project Fey and Carlock have sold this week. On Wednesday, NBC bought a workplace comedy from Fey and Carlock about a woman finds a new home and a new family on Fire Island as she attempts to reconnect with her father.
