"When you have four people dead for the first time in more than 30 years, how do you call that hype?" Scott demanded."How many security contractors died in Iraq? Do you know?" Ricks responded. "Nobody does, because nobody cared."
Ricks went on to describe the attack as a "small firefight" before adding: "I think the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox is operating as a wing of the Republican Party."Following that statement, Scott thanked Ricks and ended the interview.According to The New York Times, Ricks claimed that the interview was scheduled for three minutes, approximately double the time he was on. The paper also reports that Ricks was called rude by a Fox News staffer following the interview.Michael Clemente, executive vice president of Fox News Channel, told The Hollywood Reporter in an email that Ricks apologized in the office afterward, but "doesn't have the strength of character to do that publicly." Ricks, however, denied that he ever apologized.
"Please ask Mr. Clemente what the words of my supposed apology were. I'd be interested to know," he said in an email to THR. "Frankly, I don't remember any such apology."Watch the interview below. Do you think Ricks was being "rude"?
