For Fox's Glee, Some Very Good News... and One Sour Note

Kristin Chenoweth, Victor Garber

Fox is bringing in even more Broadway and TV vets for its hour-long musical comedy, Glee.

Pushing Daisies' Kristin Chenoweth and Alias star Victor Garber have both been cast in recurring roles, according to Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello. While Chenoweth's role is being kept secret, Garber, who starred in Broadway's Sweeney Todd, will play Matthew Morrison's father, opposite Tony Winner Debra Monk.

Chenoweth, who starred in Wicked on Broadway, was also added to David E. Kelley's new NBC series, Legally Mad, in December.

Produced by Nip/Tuck's Ryan Murphy, the show focuses on the worst high school glee club in America. Early buzz around the show, which showed previews at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in January, is extremely positive.

We're not so high on this bit of news, however: Fox has announced plans to debut the show on Tuesday, May 19, following the final performance episode of American Idol. That makes sense, but the network will then put the series' remaining 12 episodes on hold until fall. Lie to Me and its solid post-Idol ratings may be the culprit here, keeping Fox from using an Idol-Glee combo as insiders say was originally planned.

What do you think of the addition of Chenoweth and Garber? Will the odd broadcast plan keep you from singing along?
