The Following Exclusive Sneak Peek: What's Parker Hiding?

The most recent episode of The Following ended with Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) on the stairs of the kidnappers' safe house with a gun being pressed into his neck by Paul (Adan Canto). Help is on the way, but will the SWAT team get there in time?

When the show picks up this week, Agent Parker (Annie Parisse) is trying to buy some time back at FBI headquarters by figuring out how to rattle the ringleader Emma (Valorie Curry) — and she's using her Achilles heel to do so. In an exclusive clip from Monday's episode (9/8c, Fox), it seems that Parker's uncovered a cache of Emma's art, and it all pertains to her mother.

"I suspect she's completely traumatized by having killed her," Parker tells Agent Mike Weston (Shawn Ashmore).

And, apparently parental trauma is something Parker herself is familiar with. After Weston remarks that Emma's mother must have "done a number on her," Parker replies, "Mine sure did. ... Parental influence defines us."

Parisse recently told TVGuide.com that Monday's episode is her favorite of the season. Could it have something to do with her character's backstory?

"Where the story is at the end of Episode 6, I think the audience is going to really love it," she teases. "It just goes to such a deep place."
