Those lips! Those eyes! That personality! It seemed inevitable that winsome covergirl wannabe Lluvy Gomez would clean up on America's Next Top Model. But instead, after she landed in Tyra's bottom two for the third time in a row, the Modesto, Calif., janitor saw her dream of a catwalk career get flushed down the toilet. Before another Model mannequin's hopes are dashed tonight (8 pm/ET on UPN), TVGuide.com thinks it's time we rang up the pretty woman to extend our sympathy.
TVGuide.com: When you finally got cut, after three times in the bottom two, did it feel like a mercy killing?
Lluvy Gomez: Yeah. Oh my god, I just knew [it was coming]. I just wanted to go home already. I couldn't believe I was that girl who was there three times in a row. The girls and I used to joke, "Just keep me on, and the whole time, it'll just be me and another girl [on the chopping block]." It was really nerve-racking, but I definitely knew I was going home [when I was] standing there next to Rebecca, who is just the complete image of what a model should be.
Lluvy: They didn't even show it, but when I first walked onto the set, the fan blew me over! It was so harsh! TVG: You know you've set yourself up to hear model weight jokes forevermore by admitting that you're so light, the wind machine blew you over.
Lluvy: [Laughs] Yeah, I know. [The elements aside], it's hard for me to be sexy, anyway; I really don't know what that is, and I still don't know. I guess watching myself on TV, maybe [I've learned that] modeling is kind of acting a little bit, and you have to take yourself out of your environment. I obviously just didn't do that. TVG: But for two weeks, they kept you in there. Looking back, do you have an idea why?
Lluvy: Watching the show, it seems like maybe Janice [Dickinson] was rooting for me. I know for a fact that Nole [Marin] for sure wanted me out a long time ago. But overall, I think maybe they had hoped that I would get it together, and I didn't. TVG: At least you never had to feel the wrath of Janice.
Lluvy: Yeah! I have been such a huge fan since the first show, and when I was coming on, I thought, "As long as Janice doesn't call me fat or hate me, I will be fine." So I think I accomplished that. TVG: No wonder you're in a good mood.
Lluvy: I know! Janice likes me! TVG: At the big Cover Girl party you attended, the judges commented on how articulate you were. Do you think maybe you're a little too smart for modeling?
Lluvy: Hmm... I don't know. [Laughs] I've been to big parties with my mom or sisters, and I've always acted older than I am, so I think that's what it is — I just know how to carry myself. Obviously, some girls just went a little wild. TVG: Let's talk about the Pisces photo that Tyra Banks called the worst picture in the show's history. Can you still watch Finding Nemo after posing as a fish nearly got you fried?
Lluvy: [Laughs] I love Finding Nemo! But [taking] that picture was so hard! I'll take the title of having had the worst photo in the history of America's Next Top Model, even though I don't think it was. It was just a hard shoot overall. My face was melting off — I had tons of glue on my face because each one of those scales was glued on... TVG: It must suck that now, when the calendar comes out, you're going to have to autograph "the worst picture ever."
Lluvy: I know! And I shouldn't, but I go on [Internet] forums and look at what people are talking about, and they're like, "Oh, I'm not getting the calendar because Lluvy messed up my month!" I felt bad. TVG: During a phone call with your boyfriend, you said you missed your puppy. Do you really have a puppy, or is that a pet name for your boyfriend?
Lluvy: I have a puppy! It's so funny that you said that, because my sister called me and said, "People are going to think that's what you call your fiancé!" But no, it's my little puppy. I have a Chihuahua. He's not a puppy anymore, but he's like my little boy. He's actually with me right now. I take him everywhere. He's so spoiled! TVG: The contestants who are moms flipped during the "Got milk?" shoot with the kids, because it made them miss their own children. Did you have the same response to the dogwalking shoot?
Lluvy: Oh my God, I was so ecstatic! That was like the best day of my life! I was so happy, especially because the pug from Men in Black was in my photo. He's so old, they kept on taking him in and out of photos [so he could rest] and I was praying, "Please, I want the pug in my picture!" And he was, so I was so happy. I'm such a nerd. TVG: Was that your first photo with a celebrity?
Lluvy: [Laughs] It was! All the girls were like, "Oh my god, I'm going to get fleas," but I was thrilled. I love animals.
