Fox has released a first-look video about the second season of Wayward Pines that explains a little about how they're able to continue the 10-episode event series that ended by killing the character played by Matt Dillon, the show's ostensible lead. After the surprise success of the creepy drama about a post-apocalyptic settlement besieged by hyper-evolved monsters, Fox renewed the show, which was produced by M. Night Shymalan, in January. But the renewal left a lot of fans puzzled: After so much destruction in the finale, what does Season 2 look like?

Djimon Hounsou cast in Season 2 of Wayward Pines.

Well, now we know. The first generation of precocious graduates of the town's academy have taken over... with disconcerting results. We'll also be getting to know more about "the abbies," who are now both inside and outside the town's perimeter. Jason Patric and Djimon Hounsou join the cast. Patric's character, Dr. Theo Yedlin, remains mysterious, but Hounsou describes his character, C.J. Mitchum, as someone who knows everything about the town. Season 1 players Carla Gugino, Shannyn Sossamon and Hope Davis will all return.

Wayward Pines' second season premieres on Fox this summer.
