Matt Bomer, Alexis Bledel
Fifty Shades of Grey fans are not happy with the castings of Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam in the two lead roles.
After months of speculation, it was announced Monday that the Ben and Kate alum and the Sons of Anarchy star had signed on to play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively, in the upcoming film based on E.L. James' steamy bestseller. But many diehard fans weren't pleased and immediately took to the Internet to create a petition on Change.org.
Celebrities who've survived scandal
"We want Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades," the petition reads. "Matt Bomer is the perfect description of Christian Grey and Alexis Bledel is the perfect actress to represent Anastasia Steele and if they are not, nobody will be."
As of Wednesday afternoon, the petition had reached more than 27,000 signatures. But producer Dana Brunetti has already sounded off on Twitter supporting the film's choice of Johnson and Hunnam. "There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc," he wrote. "So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."
In a TVGuide.com poll, 43 percent of users thought Johnson and Hunnam were not right for the roles, while 24 percent thought they'd be great. What do you think of the castings?
