Fall TV: CBS Orders 13 Episodes of The Bridge

CBS has announced the first new series of the network's fall 2009 class: cop drama (shocker!) The Bridge. The Eye has ordered 13 episodes of the procedural drama, which focuses on a charismatic union leader who is simultaneously battling criminals on the street while facing down corruption within the ranks of his own department. The show stars Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica, Smallville), Paul Popowich (Angela's Eyes), Inga Cadranel (Rent-a-Goalie) and two-time Emmy winner Stuart Margolin (The Rockford Files).

The Bridge
marks the second recent partnership between CBS and CTV — Canada's largest privately owned English language broadcast network — which also co-produced Flashpoint, last summer's most watched original drama. Flashpoint currently wins its Friday timeslot.
The series' executive producers include former Toronto police union head Craig Bromell, Laszlo Barna (Da Vinci's Inquest), and Adam J. Shully (The Guardian). Production is scheduled to begin in Toronto in late spring.
