Propelled by the return of Survivor and huge numbers for CSI, CBS trampled the competition (read: NBC) to enjoy its best Thursday of the season. Survivor: Palau (buh-bye Jolanda, Jonathan and Wanda) averaged 23.7 million viewers, the most-watched Survivor premiere (excluding post-Super Bowl) since the debut of Survivor: Africa in 2001. CSI followed at 9 pm with 30 million viewers (its best performance since November), and Without a Trace held its own at 10 pm with 21 million viewers.
