ESPN has fired Numbers Never* Lie commentator Hugh Douglas after he allegedly called co-host Michael Smith an "Uncle Tom" during a confrontation, according to Deadspin.

Deadspin and Big Lead Sports reported that Douglas and Smith nearly came to blows and had to be separated at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Orlando last week.

Douglas, a former defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, was allegedly "drunk and combative" Friday night and attempted to go on stage at a club, when Smith encouraged him not to. Douglas called Smith an "Uncle Tom" in response, and later grabbed his co-host's arm and threatened to beat him up, Deadspin reports. Onlookers and security reportedly had to break up the men.

This week, Sports Illustrated reported that ESPN has "parted ways" with Douglas.

"I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time," Douglas tweeted Tuesday.
