Eric Dane Cast in Michael Bay's TNT Pilot

Less than a week after Eric Dane's character Mark Sloan made his final appearance on Grey's Anatomy, the actor has signed on to Michael Bay's new TNT pilot Last Ship.

The plot is based on a post-apocalyptic 1989 William Brinkley novel about a navy crew who are among the only survivors on the planet after a global catastrophe. Dane will play Captain Tom Chandler, "a career Navy man and a loving father and husband who's never home as much as he'd like to be," according to TNT.
Without a Trace's Hank Steinberg will serve as showrunner and is penning the pilot, along with The Closer's Steven Kane. Bay, Steinberg and Kane will be executive producers.
