The Americans finally broke through at the Emmys, scoring multiple major nominations Thursday.

The FX spy drama vill vie for drama series against defending champ Game of Thrones, Better Call Saul, Downton Abbey, Homeland, House of Cards and Mr. Robot. Mr. Robot's mention is USA its first series nomination in either drama or comedy.

The Americans stars Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell also made the cut in the lead drama acting races. Rhys is up against Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) and Kevin Spacey (House of Cards).

Emmys snubs and surprises: Orange Is the New Black (nearly) shut out), but yay Americans!

Russell is against Claire Danes (Homeland), defending champ Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Robin Wright (House of Cards).

The comedy series race features defending champ Veep, Black-ish, Master of None, Modern Family, Silicon Valley, Transparent and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Veep's leading lady Julia Louis-Dreyfus, meanwhile, will be seeking a record-breaking fifth-straight win and a record sixth overall win in the comedy lead actress category.
