Disney is in early talks with Emma Stone to star as iconic villain Cruella de Vil, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is a live-action origin story of the 101 Dalmatians foe penned by Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey). Production is hoping to begin later this year.

Glenn Close also played a live-action version of Cruella in the 1996 version of the Disney classic and ABC's Once Upon a Time put their spin on the fur-obsessed fashionista's origin story with Victoria Smurfit.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield break up

Stone is mostly known for her good-girl roles in Crazy, Stupid Love and as Gwen Stacey in the Amazing Spider-Man series; Cruella would be a big departure for the A-list actress.

Stone will next re-team with Ryan Gosling in Damien Chazelle's La La Land.
