In the will, signed Dec. 1 — six days before her death from breast cancer — Edwards appointed her eldest daughter, Cate, 28, executor of her will. Cate will also serve as guardian for her siblings, Emma Claire, 12, and Jack, 10, should anything happen to John Edwards.John and Elizabeth Edwards separated in 2010 after the former North Carolina senator and presidential hopeful admitted to fathering a child with his mistress, Rielle Hunter.
