Nepotism is alive and well in the Fifty Shades universe.
Niall Leonard, the husband of author EL James, has been tapped to write the script for the film adaptation of Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
These Fifty Shades of Grey parodies are probably better than the film
James, who infamously clashed with director Sam Taylor-Johnson about the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey, had previously expressed interest in penning the script to Fifty Shades Darker herself. Taylor-Johnson and screenwriter Kelly Marcel have both stepped down from the sequel, while stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are in negotiations to reprise their respective roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
Leonard is a screenwriter and author in his own right, whose credits include the British TV show Wire in the Blood and the Crusher book series. He also helped James with the script for Fifty Shades of Grey, but was uncredited.
Since its theatrical release in February, Fifty Shades of Grey has earned nearly $570 million worldwide.
