Dylan O'Brien, star of the popular Maze Runner franchise, was injured Thursday, March 17 on the set of the film's upcoming sequel The Death Cure. According to Variety, the 24-year-old actor, who also stars on MTV's Teen Wolfas Stiles Stilinski, suffered multiple injuries during a scene gone wrong. He was immediately transported to a local hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia for observation and treatment. According to a statement released by Fox, production on the film, which is scheduled to be released February 17, 2017, has been shut down while the actor recovers.

The news of the accident was first reported by TMZ on Friday, sending the young star's many fans into major meltdown mode. Numerous conflicting reports about what happened have since surfaced. Deadline is reporting that the actor, who plays lead character Thomas in the film, fell off the back of a set that intended to look like the back of a train and fractured either his cheekbone or orbital socket after falling on his face.

O'Brien's publicist told Entertainment Weekly that early reports indicated that the actor would make a full recovery.
