Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Undergoes Emergency Surgery

It takes a lot to keep tough guy Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on the sidelines. But he has finally met his match — in the way of a hernia. "Saw my Dr. who had to push my intestines back thru the tear in my abdomen," Johnson wrote on Twitter April 21. "Kinda romantic. Surgery is next week. #Bringiton." The injury forced the actor to skip the April 22 Hollywood premiere of his new movie Pain & Gain. Johnson underwent surgery the next day, on April 23, and took to Twitter again to tell fans he emerged okay — along with a picture from his hospital gurney: "Surgery a success! Dr repaired 3 hernial tears (fun pain). Superman is on the mend."

Johnson sustained the injury wrestling in the WWE Title main event of April 7's Wrestlemania 29, in which he faced off with John Cena. "In the middle of last night's Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & abductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job," Johnson tweeted the next day. "It's all about #JustBringIt. WWE Universe, THANK YOU for all the love & well wishes. Means everything to me. #LeaveItAllInTheRing."

Johnson has had a busy 2013 — starring in four films (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain, Snitch, and May's Fast & Furious 6).
