A 16-year-old boy from a neighboring town was arrested and charged with theft. He was released to his parents.

"We discovered after a little investigation that a juvenile had taken it. I made contact with the juvenile who lives a little further away and he admitted to taking it," Ball Ground Police Chief Bryon Reeves said. "It was nothing but ashes, it was completely gone."

The scarecrow was made by a group of fourth grade class mothers from the local elementary school.
