Los Angeles Clippers Stage Silent Protest After Owner's Alleged Racist Remarks

There wasn't a lot of team pride among the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

In the wake of racist remarks allegedly made by team owner Donald Sterling, the players took off their official warm-up shirts ahead of their playoff game against the Golden State Warriors, and left them in a pile in center court. During the pre-game warm-up, they instead wore red shirts that had been turned inside out so as not to display the team logo. For the game itself, team members wore black arm bands, wrist bands and socks.

The Clippers went on to lose the game 118-97, and the series is tied at 2-2.

The controversy started late Friday night when TMZ published an audio recording of a man believed to be Sterling telling his girlfriend he disapproved of her "associating with" black people and bringing them to Clippers games, after his girlfriend posted a picture on Instagram of herself and former NBA player Magic Johnson.

During a team meeting, players considered boycotting Sunday's game, point guard Chris Paul told ESPN. Sterling did not attend the game.
