After being hospitalized last week following a collapse in her London home, Amy Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema, her father has confirmed.

Mitch Winehouse told Britain's Daily Mail that the Grammy-winning soul singer's drug use and unhealthy lifestyle have caused the irreversible lung disease which makes it difficult for sufferers to breathe. "With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes, her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She's got 70 percent lung capacity."

Her father said doctors have warned Amy that if she continues her habits, she could be confined to a wheelchair and forced to wear a permanent oxygen mask. "If she goes back to smoking drugs it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her," he said. He also took on the bad influences in her life, urging the drug dealers "supplying crack to Amy" to "take responsibility."

The disease is in its early stages, and her father remains hopeful that perhaps this scare might clean up Winehouse. "I've started to see my old Amy back," he said. "We'll just have to see how great her resolution is." - Adam Bryant

UPDATE: Um, maybe not so much with the emphysema? People is reporting that her reps have countered Mitch Winehouse's diagnosis. It's a "scarring of the lungs which could lead to emphysema," says spokesman Chris Goodman. "If she keeps doing the wrong things, then it could lead to it. If she does the right things, it won't." Still doesn't sound great though, right? To prove her detractors wrong, Winehouse immediately lit up a cigarette upon her release from the hospital. Attagirl!
