Move over, Real Housewives. Clint Eastwood's bride, Dina, is getting real — and really funny—for E!'s Mrs. Eastwood & Company, a lively, unscripted look at her life as mother, wife...and manager of the South African boy band Overtone. Yes, you read that right. She recently made our day by explaining how that last gig came to be.
TV Guide Magazine: OK, a boy band?
Eastwood: It happened so fast I had no idea what the hell I'd gotten into! [Laughs] I saw them in concert, my husband bumped into them a few weeks later, asked them to cut a demo for the Invictus soundtrack — this was all in South Africa. And then I said the world has to hear them....
TV Guide Magazine: So you bring six singing heartthrobs into a house with your 15-year-old daughter, a 19-year-old stepdaughter and Clint Eastwood, the ultimate alpha-male. How did that go?
Eastwood: He was extremely supportive. Housing [for the band] has always been an issue, so I'd have a few of them living in our house at a time. Then they all lived on our property for six months! And it's never been an issue with the kids, except when I was working too much. Now they're thrilled I'm doing it because it gets me out of their hair. [Laughs]
TV Guide Magazine: What do we see you go through in this show?
Eastwood: The band will be seen [working] with Ron Fair, who created the Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera. We went to boy-band boot-camp with Johnny Right, who manages the Jonas Brothers. And a lot happens within the band as well. One of them [comes out] and that's a beautiful thing. Sometimes I actually think if that is the only thing that comes out of this show, it was worth it.
TV Guide Magazine: Will we see a softer side of Clint?
Eastwood: He's never the focus of an episode, but what I like is that we speak freely about him. I think getting to see how we live — I'm driving around in a 1990 Bravada, we spend free time making sure the pet pig goes in the right place — will surprise people, because he is so private!
Mrs. Eastwood & Company premieres Sunday at 10/9c on E!
